Short overview on 70s hairstyles
Women of the seventies felt the need to break loose from the coiffured looks of the sixties which is why hairdos of the seventies were all about being hip. Vintage and retro looks are making their way back and so are 70s hairstyles. It was the era of strange fashion trends.
Many women of the seventies went for the hippie look flaunting their long and wildly flowing hair. Natural hairstyles replaced the poodle hair, pompadour and bouffant. The blow dryer revolutionized the hairdos of the era. No more curlers, no more rolls and pin up hairdos. Straight and long hair was in and women would often straighten their hair using a regular iron.
Other hairstyles that were IN during the seventies were the short punk hairstyles. Punk hairstyles of the 1970's are easy to re-create especially if you are using gel and some color. Experimentation with coloring and haircuts was very popular during those days. Short 70s hairstyles included bangs, choppy layers and bob. Another super cool hairstyle that was famous in the seventies was the Shag as it was easy to create and maintain. Huge Afro hairdos were also in vogue due to a period in which black power would come to the fore. Then there was the mullet haircut that was worn by men and women equally. The sides, front and top were cut short while leaving the hair long at the back.
Glam and revolution, freedom and fun were the key words of the seventies and that is what women who are going in for this style should incorporate in their hairdos.
